Agree very upsetting. He would have been "overchuffed" to have got one.

Not being an F1 fan, I didn't know that, harold.

Very interesting, that.

ED,
Button won more points than Hamilton when they were together at Mclaren.

Re: New Years Honours
Hamilton, excellent driver in exceptional machinery. Total wanker of a person.
As Ronnie O'Sullivan said, at least snooker players all have the same equipment to show who's best.
Given the same car as Hamilton, at least 5 other drivers on that grid would win races that thy currently can't.

Re: New Years Honours
Ah right. I checked.

He was winning (1st) by a mile with a couple of laps left and totalling embarrassing Hamilton. So the pit crew fucked up the tyre change and gave hive a dodgy tyre that immediately went flat.

Hamilton then jumped off his death-bed and unexpectedly took the seat for the next race.

A one off performance (9th!) versus years and years of top class results
A very APT comparison

Re: New Years Honours
I'm not doubting his achievements, or that he's one of the best ever, or that he deserves a knighthood. If you weren't a thick Aussie camp cunt, you'd have recognised that.

However, your comparison was shit, so I got you told.

Hamilton wins in 7 separate seasons
LUCKY
And no better than someone who couldn’t make the podium in one race.

Re: New Years Honours
Something like that, mate.

Anyway, as I say I think it's all a load of bollocks, Jimmy Saville died a Sir, and he was very, very closely linked to the royal family and especially a certain member who apparently doesn't sweat. I'm more disgusted by that than who they give some poxy fucking meaningless title to.

Eerie - Don't know if it's just gossip but didn't that email he sent that got exposed slagging off others and the decision makers for not awarding him a knighthood curtail his chances?

No gong for Carlton I see.

Terrible comparison.

I'm no expert, but you've only got to look at when Jenson Button absolutely pissed becoming world champ when he had the best car. He was just an run of the mill F1 driver apart from that season.

No. I reckon most would say - "What?"

Re: New Years Honours
I honestly couldn't give a flying fuck about these 'honours', the old girl should be more worried about her creepy nonce son.

However, if we're handing them out to sportsmen, footballers should not be judged on if England won anything, as it's a team sport. But it is the most popular sport in the world, it is our national sport, and the fact is Beckham was immense when he was England captain for numerous games, and he won 115 caps overall.

Ask a million Englishmen whether they'd rather be F1 champ, a long distance running gold medalist (lets ignore the drug cheat coach) or be England captain in football and win over 100 caps, and you know what 99% would say.

Re: New Years Honours
Don’t follow F1 either ... to me it’s traffic not sport
But some of the comments about the stand in driver are like saying that Jeremy Ngakia after a decent game against Liverpool is now on the same level as Ray Stewart.

Re: New Years Honours
Honours! About time this historic abortion of knighthoods was abolished. Along with all monarchy.

Modern democracies have no need to give anyone the right to be called Sir, Lord or anything that sets them apart from everyone else.

The bloke was leading/second with about one lap to go and something happened beyond his control? I dunno, I fucking hate F!.

Re: New Years Honours
Yes, 9th. With BOTTAS 8th
No wonder Hamilton needed to get back to deal with that threat & wrap up his 7th World title.

Must be England’s greatest ever sportsman now. And only second behind Sir Andy Murray as Great Britain’s greatest ever.

'How did Valteri BOTTAS get on in the same car?
Or the bloke who was handed the keys when Hamilton missed a race due to Covid?'

Bottas is clearly shit, but the other bloke did so well that Hamilton dived back into the cockpit quicker than he needed to, just to make sure he didn't get another go.

Bobby, Jimmy Greaves, Bernard Cribbins.

When the only measure of an awards system is who unfairly didn't get one, it's time to chuck it in the Thames.
